Check it out.
We are very happy to announce that Olia Lialina, net.art pioneer and Professor at the Merz Akademie Stuttgart, will be giving a Keynote Lecture on Friday, November 7th 2014, titled “Rich User Experience”.
Olia is – among many other things – a brilliant critic not only of current interface paradigms, but also of the underlying implications and discourses that led to the computers we have today, as can be seen for example in her essay “Turing Complete User“.
At the same time she does pioneering work in the realm of the archeology of new media, archiving and rendering accessible terabytes of geocities homepages with her current project “One Terabyte of Kilobyte Age”. Her perspective is not simply informed by observation, but always includes actual practice.
Olia finished Moscow State University as journalist. Net Artist, one of net.art pioneers, Animated GIF model. Writes on New Media, Digital Folklore and Vernacular Web. Co-founder of Geocities Research Institute. Professor, leader of New Media programme at Merz Akademie, Stuttgart.
